The argument for Man Made Global Warming is so powerful, We don't need to talk about it (we have a "consensus" you know)

Every post I (Pervach) made in this thread was an honest reflection on my views.

This post is about the meme i'm sure you have already heard about, from Rick Giles, while talking about Earth Hour, who was quoted as saying:
I think my argument is so powerful that it's not necessary to talk about it
In the context, "It" meant "whether or not you believe in climate change".
I can't find it now, but someone, somewhere was saying something to the effect of:
If there is an argument so powerful you don't need to talk about it, please tell us
Now, i have to admit i do like this little meme, and i sincerely believe our culture is richer for it. Whoever said it was just joining in, but i feel like bragging anyway.

Initially i had no intention of getting in an argument, but each step got more involved and i was enjoying it, so i kept going. I was arguing based on the assumption that climate change is real and man made, and that Earth Hour was nevertheless futile. The argument covered two topics, from which Psalter's positions were:

1) Symbolism can't be futile.

Oh, I do heartily believe that we should be using R&D for the benefit of the planet... but seriously, earth hour is about symbolism not a short-term reduction in waste.
He conceded after 3 posts (I had help from Rick Giles).

2)The most responsible thing to do is conserve resources like in Earth Hour.

Don't place words in my mouth/fingers.

That's a Gilesian approach.
The point still stands, which is that this is an argument about whether or not it is futile to use less resources, not about whether earth hour is just "symbolism" or not.

So, let me just get this straight... you and Bardan believe that more responsible use of resources is not necessary in the progression and survival of humanity?
After 6 posts, he was lost for words.

And then my victory lap:

And i never even had to talk about whether or not global warming is man made.
I know i'm being a bit arrogant, but i'm gonna be on a high for a while because of this.

I also want to give Psalter credit where it's due, he stuck to the topic and mainly played the ball not the man. Thanks for being a good sport. I'm serious.
